Frederica Academy Living in a small Coastal Georgia community does not mean sacrificing an education. Many Frederica families have learned that the island’s Frederica Academy excels at preparing its students for the highly competitive academic world that waits at college. Frederica Academy is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school, with an enrollment of approximately 400 in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Other private schools on St. Simons Island include St. Simons Christian School, a K-8 school, and several other preschool options.

Glynn County School System is comprised of 10 elementary schools, the historic Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick and Brunswick High School – a new (Opened January 2014) 354,000-square-foot facility that is currently home to 1,700 students. The $48 million school includes an 11,000-square-foot performing arts center with seating for more than 500. Frederica families choosing public schools are served by one of two elementary schools on St. Simons Island and Glynn Middle School and Glynn Academy in Brunswick for middle and high school.

The College of Coastal Georgia, part of Georgia’s higher education system, offers a variety of baccalaureate programs from its Brunswick campus. Regionally, Savannah has three universities, a medical school and law school – as well as the internationally-acclaimed Savannah College of Art and Design. Likewise, in nearby Jacksonville, Florida, there are a handful of baccalaureate degree universities. Most of the popular online learning programs have satellite campuses in both Savannah and Jacksonville. All of the surrounding colleges and universities offer C.E.U. courses on various subjects and have active adult education programs.

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), literally a city within a city north of Brunswick, trains more than 70,000 law enforcement officers of more than 90 agencies from around the world. FLETC is a part of the Department of Homeland Security.
