The Story of Frederica Realty

The Name Came First

In 1736, James Oglethorpe established Fort Frederica on the western edge of St. Simons Island and named it for Frederick, Prince of Wales. Nearly three centuries later, the community that carries that name was planned on a simple premise: that the land should be respectfully preserved before it was shared and enjoyed.

Frederica's 3,000 acres include deep water access to the Frederica River, tidal marshes, a freshwater lake, and live oaks older than any home on the island. From the start, home sites would be planned and located with intention on that natural habitat.
 

A Rare Beginning

We were asked to join a team to steward that vision about 15 years ago. It was not a typical assignment. As design, development, and construction unfolded, we learned the land lot by lot and helped introduce prospective homeowners to the community taking shape.  When we arrived, there were 12 homes in the community, and since then Frederica Realty has sold 277 home sites and 86 homes, with 160 homes now completed in the community.

That experience shaped how we work. When a community grows the way Frederica did, gradually and with care, a home is rarely the whole decision.  People are choosing a way of life, neighbors who share a love for this place, and a home their families will return to for years, and hopefully for generations.  Our role was never a matter of selling real estate so much as introducing people to a lifestyle, and to one another.  The result is a community bound by more than proximity. 


 

Relationships, Not Transactions

The families we met over the years are still part of our lives and have become friends. What makes Frederica a community, rather than a collection of beautiful homes, is the people in it. Our owners are the first to share their pride and passion for their community and have become our best ambassadors, the first to welcome potential and new homeowners and show them why Frederica is their home.

Relationships are the part of this business that we value most. A real estate transaction ends at closing.  A relationship lasts a lifetime.

Beyond Frederica

Over time, those relationships carried us beyond Frederica, to listing and selling homes across St. Simons Island and Sea Island.  Our team’s knowledge and experience relating to new construction, architecture and interior design helps our clients see the potential in renovating an older home or adapting a newer home to their desires. Today, our team works with buyers and sellers wherever they hope to be on St. Simons Island and Sea Island, bringing the same attention we brought to Frederica from the beginning.
